The Milwaukee Brewers claimed their first championship in franchise history on Tuesday, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 at Tropicana Field to close out the World Series.
Milwaukee jumped ahead in the second inning when rookie infielder Cooper Pratt delivered a run-scoring single. The Brewers added to the lead with run-producing hits from David Hamilton in the fifth and a run-scoring double from William Contreras in the sixth. Tampa Bay's offense stayed quiet until the ninth inning, when the Rays put runners aboard against the Milwaukee bullpen before the game ended.
Right-hander Jacob Misiorowski started for Milwaukee and threw 5.2 scoreless innings, allowing one hit while recording two strikeouts and reaching 101.3 mph on his pitches. He exited in the sixth after feeling discomfort in his left leg and was replaced by JoJo Romero. Abner Uribe and Trevor Megill finished the game on the mound for the Brewers.
Pratt finished with seven runs batted in across the series, matching the record for a rookie in the World Series set by Gil McDougald in 1951. His output included a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. Venezuelan outfielder Jackson Chourio added his 11th hit of the series.
The Rays will open their next series against the New York Yankees at Steinbrenner Field, while Milwaukee heads to St. Louis to face the Cardinals. In individual awards announced Monday, New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor received the 2026 Roberto Clemente Award.
