Jordanian authorities detained three men on Monday morning in connection with a deadly attack on a Greek Orthodox church. The suspects were captured during a dawn operation in Karak governorate, located south of the capital Amman. All three men sustained injuries during the arrest, while no security personnel were hurt.

The initial assault occurred on Friday in the village of Hammoud. Three individuals opened fire during a funeral service. The area is known for its minority Christian population. No armed group has claimed responsibility for the shooting, and officials have not linked the suspects to specific militant organizations.

Mazen Al-Faraya, the Interior Minister, confirmed the identities of the three men in a phone interview with state television. He stated that security services had used all available means to apprehend them after they put up strong resistance. Al-Faraya described the incident as a terrorist act carried out by those who were identified early in the investigation.

King Abdullah II instructed officials to act decisively against what he termed the outlaws of Islam. He warned against anyone attempting to undermine the unity of the Jordanian people. The Public Security Directorate issued a statement asserting that terrorism has no place in the country. The directorate noted that the three suspects had met their just fate, according to a Reuters report.

The directorate did not release the names of the arrested individuals. It also did not specify any connections to Islamist militant groups. The security operation concluded with the three men taken into custody despite their severe injuries.
