Israeli forces conducted a series of precision airstrikes across the Gaza Strip over the weekend, killing seven combatants. The military announced on Monday that the operations targeted Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad operatives in northern, central, and southern sectors.
The first wave of strikes hit three fighters in a single Sunday assault. Alaa Abu Zaid and Hamdan Suleiman Ibrahim Abu Amra belonged to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad military wing. Fawzi Salam Odat Allah Sawarha, identified as a Hamas sniper, had directed fire at Israeli troops. A separate Saturday strike in northern Gaza killed Muhammad Anan Muhammad Al-Rawaj, the head of a Nukhba cell in the Hamas armed wing.
The military stated these individuals were working to restore operational capabilities and plan attacks on Israeli soldiers and civilians. This activity violated the terms of the current ceasefire. On Sunday, forces also dismantled a military structure in northern Gaza after identifying it as a sniper position.
In a distinct action on Sunday, an aircraft targeted three terrorists in the Khan Yunis area. Soldiers spotted the group emerging from a tunnel shaft located beyond the yellow line in southern Gaza. The initial airstrike was followed by additional explosions, which the IDF said indicated the presence of weapons inside the tunnel.
The Southern Command remains deployed across the sector to eliminate threats. Before executing the strikes, the IDF used aerial surveillance and precision munitions to minimize civilian harm.
