A Worcester man appeared in court on Tuesday to face two new charges of sexual assault against a minor. Prosecutors allege the incident occurred approximately two years ago in the basement of the Iglesia Cristiana Reino de Dios on Exchange Street in Milford. The defendant is 63 years old.

State records show Feliciano already carries two prior convictions for sexual offenses. He was convicted of rape in 1993 and indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 in 2001. He is currently registered as a level two sex offender.

The new charges include one count of rape of a child and one count of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14. Court documents state Feliciano worked at the church and allegedly asked the victim, who was about 13 at the time, to help him carry water from the basement. The alleged assault took place in that location.

The victim told investigators she escaped and hid in a bathroom. She said the accused later told her not to tell anyone what happened. Feliciano denied the claims when speaking to reporters outside the courthouse on Tuesday. "Nothing happened. That is the problem. That nothing happened," he said.

Feliciano also claimed the accusation stemmed from a misunderstanding. "I do not know why they are accusing me. I do not know. I do not know. It was a misunderstanding," he said. He added that he saw something in the church that he was told to keep quiet about. "I saw something they do not want me to talk about. Because if I talk, there will be a problem in the church. That is all so I do not talk about what I saw," he said. He did not specify what he saw.

The judge ordered Feliciano to wear a GPS monitor and stay under house arrest, with exceptions for medical appointments and legal matters. He is prohibited from contacting the alleged victim or any child under 16. The church did not respond to requests for comment. Feliciano is scheduled to return to court in December.
